Arthur Finally Answered: “What Happened To The Other Baby Born In That Room?”

Part 1

Part 3

The church was supposed to be the one place Marcus Vale could not reach.

But then his voice came through the speakers.

Calm.

Cold.

Almost gentle.

“Mrs. Harlow,” he said, “shall we finally tell your son who his real father is?”

Beside Eliza, Oliver went still.

The little boy did not look at the screens first. He did not look at the strangers holding guns.

He looked up at Damian.

The man he had called father for his whole life.

“Daddy?” he whispered.

Damian moved before anyone else could speak. He stepped directly in front of Oliver, blocking him as if his body alone could keep the words away.

“Don’t listen.”

Marcus gave a soft laugh through the speakers.

“That is what frightened men say when evidence is about to speak.”

Then the monitors went dark.

For one long second, there was only silence.

Then they lit up again, one by one.

Hospital records appeared across the screens.

A birth certificate.

A blood report.

A photograph of a newborn baby wrapped in a blue blanket.

At the top of the file, one name was written clearly.

OLIVER HARLOW.

Eliza’s chest tightened.

“No…”

Another document opened.

Two red words filled the center of the screen.

PATERNITY EXCLUDED.

Nobody moved.

Oliver’s face began to break.

“Daddy… does that mean I’m not yours?”

Damian dropped to his knees in front of him so fast it looked like the question had knocked him down.

He took Oliver’s hands in his.

“You are mine,” he said. “Not because of a file. Not because of a test. Because I held you when you were afraid. Because I stayed beside you every night you cried for your mother. Because I loved you before you even understood what love was.”

Oliver started sobbing.

Damian pulled him into his arms.

“No lie can take you from me.”

Eliza covered her mouth, tears burning in her eyes.

Then a voice came from the doorway.

“The report is fake.”

Everyone turned.

Arthur was standing there, pale and bleeding, one hand gripping the wall just to stay upright.

Damian slowly stood.

“You knew about this?”

Arthur nodded.

“I created it.”

Eliza stared at him.

“Why would you do that to my son?”

Arthur looked at Oliver.

Then at the flash drive in Eliza’s hand.

“Because Marcus did not want anyone asking the real question.”

Eliza’s voice shook.

“What question?”

Arthur swallowed.

“What happened to the other baby born in that room?”

Part 2

Arthur’s words hung in the hidden room beneath the church.

“What happened to the other baby born in that room?”

For one second, no one breathed.

Eliza stood with the silver flash drive closed inside her fist. Damian kept Oliver behind him, one hand on the boy’s shoulder, the other reaching for the g*** Evelyn had left on the table.

Oliver’s small voice broke through the silence.

“Mommy… what other baby?”

Eliza could not answer.

Because Marcus Vale’s voice returned through the speakers above them.

“Careful, Arthur,” he said. “Tell one truth, and you may have to tell them all.”

The monitors flickered again.

Hospital forms appeared. A newborn bracelet. A birth record with Oliver’s name. Then another file opened beside it.

Damian stared at the screen.

Eliza saw only one word before Evelyn stepped in front of her.

TWIN.

Oliver pressed himself against Damian’s leg.

“Was that me?” he whispered.

Arthur’s face twisted with pain.

“No,” he said. “That was the question Marcus spent six years burying.”

Marcus laughed softly.

“And yet you helped me bury it.”

Damian turned on Arthur.

“Start talking.”

Arthur leaned against the stone wall, b*** soaking through his shirt. He looked older than he had ever looked inside the mansion. Smaller, somehow.

“Oliver was not switched,” Arthur said. “He was never taken from another family. He is yours, Damian. He is Eliza’s. The paternity report was fake.”

Damian’s eyes hardened.

“You made that file.”

Arthur nodded.

“I made a bad forgery. One that would collapse under real testing. I thought if Marcus ever used it, it would buy time.”

Eliza stepped toward him.

“You thought?”

Her voice was quiet. That made it worse.

Arthur lowered his eyes.

“When Eliza found the first files years ago, Marcus threatened all of us. He said he would destroy Damian, take Oliver, and make sure no court could prove where that child belonged. So I created a false trail before he could create a perfect one.”

“You let my son think his father wasn’t his father,” Eliza said.

Arthur looked at Oliver.

“I know.”

Above them, something slammed hard against the church doors.

Dust fell from the ceiling.

Evelyn’s men raised their w***.

Marcus’s voice came colder now.

“Thirty seconds. Bring me the drive, Eliza.”

Eliza’s fingers tightened around it.

“What is on it?” she asked.

Evelyn did not look away from the monitors.

“The birth registry.”

Arthur nodded.

“Marcus’s empire was never only money. It was children. False heirs. Hidden heirs. Babies moved for powerful families. Names erased. Families blackmailed with papers they never knew existed.”

Eliza felt the room tilt.

“And the other baby?”

Arthur swallowed.

“The other baby was not Oliver’s twin by blood.”

Damian frowned.

“Then why was it in the same room?”

Before Arthur could answer, the stone wall behind the monitors e*** inward.

The b*** threw Eliza to the floor.

Damian covered Oliver with his body. Evelyn f*** into the smoke. Men in black poured through the broken wall while another group rushed down the stairs.

For a moment, the hidden room became shouting, g***fire, broken glass, and stone dust.

Eliza crawled toward Oliver.

Damian reached for her.

Their fingers almost touched.

Then an arm locked around her throat and dragged her backward.

She screamed.

Through the smoke, Marcus Vale stepped into the room.

Not a voice anymore.

Not a shadow on a screen.

Tall. Silver-haired. Calm as a man walking into dinner.

He pressed a g*** against Eliza’s side and smiled at Damian.

“Now,” Marcus said, “we can speak like family.”

Damian raised his w***.

Marcus pulled Eliza tighter.

“Careful. Your son is watching.”

His eyes moved to Oliver, and his expression softened in a way that made Eliza’s skin crawl.

“Come here, boy.”

Damian’s voice dropped.

“Say one more word to him.”

Marcus smiled.

“There it is. The proud father.”

Then he looked down at Eliza’s hand.

The flash drive was gone.

Eliza’s heart stopped.

Oliver stood behind Damian, crying silently.

His little hand slowly opened.

The silver flash drive lay in his palm.

Everything went still.

Marcus whispered, “Bring it to me, Oliver.”

Oliver shook his head.

Marcus pressed the g*** harder into Eliza.

“Bring it to me, or your mother d***.”

Damian reached out, careful and slow.

“Oliver. Look at me.”

But Oliver was looking at Eliza.

His face was wet. His hand trembled. Then he turned and ran toward the old stone baptismal font near the wall.

“No!” Marcus shouted.

Oliver threw the flash drive into the water.

At that exact second, Gabriel dropped through the broken ceiling like a shadow.

He landed behind Marcus and slammed him away from Eliza.

Damian shouted her name.

Eliza hit the floor hard. For one terrifying moment, she could not feel anything but dust in her mouth and Oliver crying somewhere close.

Then Gabriel’s voice cut through the chaos.

“It was never in the drive.”

Marcus staggered back, b*** on his mouth.

Gabriel stood between him and Eliza, holding a small black device.

Marcus’s face changed.

“Where did you get that?”

Gabriel looked at Eliza.

“From Samuel Reed. The man who saved you.”

Eliza whispered, “Samuel hid the key.”

Gabriel pressed the button.

Every monitor turned white.

Then the files began uploading.

Names. Bank records. Birth certificates. Adoption papers. D*** certificates. Photographs. Signatures. Recordings.

Every locked door Marcus Vale had owned opened at once.

Marcus lunged.

Evelyn f***.

Marcus dropped to one knee, the g*** sliding from his hand across the stone floor.

For a moment, no one moved.

Then Marcus began to laugh.

“You still don’t understand,” he said, b*** staining his teeth. “I was never the top of it.”

Evelyn aimed at him.

“Then who was?”

Marcus looked at Eliza.

“You want the truth about your son? About your family? About why Gabriel was raised as my heir?”

His eyes shifted to Oliver.

“Because the boy was never the prize.”

Before anyone could stop him, Marcus bit down hard.

Gabriel grabbed him, but it was too late.

Marcus convulsed once.

Then he went still.

The silence after was worse than the g***fire.

Eliza lay in Damian’s arms as Oliver crawled into her lap, sobbing against her chest.

“Mommy,” he cried, “did I do bad?”

She held him with everything left in her.

“No, baby. You saved us.”

Above them, sirens began to wail.

Real sirens.

The world was finally arriving.

Gabriel picked up Marcus’s cracked phone from the floor. One message had come through before the signal d***.

He handed it to Eliza.

Only six words were written there.

BRING THE WOMAN. LEAVE THE CHILD.

Underneath was a name.

A name Eliza had never seen before.

But the moment she read it, something opened inside her memory.

A woman’s hand brushing hair from her face.

A soft voice in the dark.

“One day they will all come looking for you.”

Eliza lifted her eyes to Evelyn.

“Who is she?”

Evelyn’s lips trembled.

“The woman Marcus answered to.”

Eliza looked down at the name again.

“Why does she want me?”

Evelyn looked at Oliver, then back at her daughter.

“Because she is the woman who paid for your birth.”

The sirens grew louder outside.

And for the first time that night, Eliza understood the most terrifying truth of all.

Her life had not been stolen after the accident.

It had been planned before she was even born.
