PART 2 : The braided biker reached toward the necklace, his hand hovering in hesitation. The boy fumbled with the beads, finally locating the microscopic, hidden metal clasp tucked beneath them. Several bikers surged forward in a defensive rhythm, and the older man’s voice cracked as he breathed a desperate, “No…”.

PART `1 : The boy was the only one crying, his sobs tearing through the heavy, stagnant air of the cemetery.

The bikers stood in a silent, suffocating arc beneath the ancient, gnarled trees, their heavy boots planted deep into the unmown grass. The older biker with the braided gray beard knelt in front of the child, his voice emerging as a low, gravelly rasp.

“Why do you have this, kid? The one she never took off?”

The boy looked down at the beads, then slowly lifted his gaze. “She gave it to me… in case she didn’t come back,” he choked out.

The kneeling biker froze. Behind him, the line of leather vests and dormant motorcycles grew deathly still. Every man in that circle knew those beads; she had never removed them, not for rest nor for the fiercest storms. The boy’s hands began to tremor, and he whispered, “She said… if they buried her anyway… I should show you what’s inside”.
