The silence that followed his question was absolute, heavy enough to drown out the continuous, rhythmic splashing of the marble fountain. The powerful man stood motionless, his piercing gaze locking directly onto the groom, whose hand holding the champagne glass began to visibly tremble. No one dared to breathe; the aristocratic arrogance that had filled the garden moments ago dissolved into an icy wave of collective panic.

"I will ask only once more," the man said, his low baritone voice dropping an octave, carrying a terrifying stillness that vibrated through the crisp evening air. "Who touched my wife and daughter?"

The bride’s father swallowed hard, his face turning an ash-gray color as he cast a desperate glance toward his own security guards, but the guards stood frozen, completely pinned down by the presence of the elite, heavily armed bodyguards flanking the convoy. Realizing he was entirely isolated, the father took a shaky step forward, attempting to force a diplomatic smile that twitched violently at the corner of his mouth.

"Mr. Sterling... there has been a terrible misunderstanding," the father stammered, his voice cracking as he gestured nervously toward the bride's stained dress. "An accident occurred. This woman—she ruined my daughter's wedding gown. I was simply protecting my family. I had no idea she was—"

"You touched her," Mr. Sterling interrupted softly, his steel-cold eyes locking onto the older man with predatory focus. He didn't raise his voice, yet the words hit like a physical blow.

Before the father could utter another lie, Mr. Sterling stepped past him, completely ignoring his existence. His expensive leather shoes crunched deliberately against the wet gravel as he approached the edge of the multi-tiered fountain. Without a single glance at his tailored bespoke tuxedo, he stepped directly into the churning water, wading forward until he reached his shivering wife.

The cold fury in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a raw, profound tenderness as he looked down at her. He gently gathered his wet, shivering wife into his massive arms, wrapping his wide frame around her and four-year-old Lily to shield them from the cold wind. Lily immediately buried her face into his broad shoulder, her frantic sobbing transitioning into small, rhythmic whimpers as she realized her protector had arrived.
