"Call an Uber if labor starts."
I just stood there.
At first, I honestly thought I had misunderstood him. My due date was that day. My hospital bag was right there. He had a suitcase in his hand, and his parents were sitting outside, waiting for him to leave.
Nothing about it made sense to me.
I looked at him, then at the bag, then back at him.
